Career development for students is available as part of the University of Auckland’s Foundation Studies Certificate programme and continues when you progress to the University.
Student career services
The University of Auckland’s Career Development and Employability Services (CDES) is located on the University campus and offers a range of workshops, events and services to prepare you for your future career.
Support and services include:
- CV writing
- interview preparation
- advice on assessments
- job boards with the latest vacancies.
The Career Development and Employability Services is available to support you for free up to three years after you graduate. They can help you develop contacts with local employers, enhance your interview skills and connect you with alumni.
Skills development during your pathway programme
While you are studying the Foundation Studies Certificate programme at Taylors College, you will be introduced to the key skills you need to succeed in today’s competitive job market. Taylor's College's career development programme is designed to develop these skills and is integrated into your time at the College.
Through the career development programme, delivered by Taylors College, you will:
- identify your strengths and weaknesses
- follow a personal development plan that works towards your career goals
- complete CareerQuest to identify potential careers and university courses
- prepare a CV and write your personal statement.
Key skills you will develop from these activities include:
- problem solving
- communication and interpersonal skills
- business and commercial awareness.
